Bernardus Lodge is a redevelopment project built on the old Carmel Valley Inn site. Bernardus Lodge offers 57 luxurious guestrooms and world class spa in nine adobe-village style buildings in scenic Carmel Valley. Inspired by Bernardus Pon, creator of the Bernardus Winery and Vineyard, the lodge combines comfort, incredible dining experiences, gracious hospitality and environmentally sensitive operations. Bernardus operates its own water recycling facility which is used to irrigate its landscaping. Carmel Valley is subject to some of the most stringent development policies and environmental constraints found in California. L&G helped Mr. Pon successfully navigate the entitlement and building process from start to finish. L&G is currently working with Bernardus on a 16-unit expansion. Carmel Valley Ranch is a complete resort community incorporating resort facilities, golf, tennis, restaurants and luxury homes in the heart of Carmel Valley. L&G helped Carmel Valley Ranch successfully negotiate a myriad of land use and permitting issues including residential subdivision approvals, expansion and condominimizing of the hotel, approval of spa facilities and renovation of the acclaimed Peter Dye designed golf course, hotel condominium conversions, hotel remodel, new subdivisions, water rights and water credits. Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley is an historic hacienda providing a full service equestrian center, vineyards, and venue for special events, weddings and corporate outings. Holman Ranch was once a hideaway for Hollywood celebrities and national dignitaries. L&G has assisted the owners in their renovation of ranch facilities and new infrastructure. L&G is currently leading their effort to secure permits for a new artisan winery. The Moss Landing Cheese Factory is currently under construction in historic Moss Landing. The MLCF is visitor serving/retail facility emphasizing the history of the area and will be one of the last commercial developments to be built on Highway One in Monterey County. L&G was instrumental in the entitlement and building permit process including obtaining approvals from Monterey County, the California Coastal Commission and the Corp of Engineers. The Barnyard. Originally built in Carmel Valley in 1976, the Barnyard Shopping Village is a landmark on the Monterey Peninsula featuring more than 45 merchants, ranging from couture fashion shops and International restaurants to professional services and art galleries. The Barnyard hosts annual property events within its brick lined courtyards and is a popular shopping destination for residents and tourists alike. In January of 2004, the Barnyard Shopping Village was purchased by SIMA Barnyard, LLC, a California-based company. Shortly thereafter in the Spring of 2005, the Barnyard underwent a revitalization that included new roofs with copper gutters, mosaic paths and creation of an open-air patio and a cozy fireplace. Over the years, L&G assisted the owners and tenants in the establishment of the Barnyard, renovations, and tenant improvements including architectural review boards, County permitting, and allocation of water from the local water management district. Carmel Rancho Shopping Center. The Carmel Rancho Shopping Center was the first major shopping center in Carmel Valley. Originally developed in the 1960s, the Center has under gone a number of additions and modifications many of which were done with the assistance of L&G. Most notable of these were expansion of Brinton’s Hardware, new offices and a carwash. The carwash is the first full service carwash on the Monterey Peninsula to use new technology to recycle virtually all of the water used in the carwash. Handley Ranch Quarry. L&G represented Granite Construction in securing permits from Monterey County for a new hard rock quarry in Salinas Valley near Greenfield. The quarry is approved to produce almost 2,000,000 tons of granite per year. L&G worked with a team of professionals in the preparation of the Environmental Impact Report, mitigation monitoring program, public hearings, condition compliance and subsequent litigation which was concluded successfully for the applicant.
