<p class="plaintext">Drawing on the combined strength of our environmental and litigation departments, the Firm’s Environmental Group handles complex multi-party lawsuits. We are able to handle every facet of any environmental dispute and our litigators, who are in the trenches defending our clients’ practices, are often in a unique position to offer their insight and perspective on strategic and prophylactic counseling to avoid environmental problems in the future.</p> <p class="plaintext">We have negotiated many disputes through alternative dispute resolutions and innovative settlements. We are also adept at assembling a top team of industry experts and consultants for virtually every type of environmental litigation.</p> <p class="plaintext">We have specific litigation experience in matters involving:</p> <ul class="iframelists"> <li class="iframelists"> CEQA, NEPA and land use;</li> <li class="iframelists">Wetlands and Endangered Species;</li> <li class="iframelists">Environmental criminal liability;</li> <li class="iframelists">Insurance coverage;</li> <li class="iframelists">Regulatory matters;</li> <li class="iframelists">Superfund and environmental cleanup liability; and</li> <li class="iframelists">Toxic torts;</li> </ul> <p class="plaintext">Members of this practice group focus on matters related to the permitting of development facilities (e.g., air and water permits), the regulation of products (e.g., chemicals, pesticides, etc.), wastes and contaminated properties.</p> <p class="plaintext">A significant portion of our Environmental practice involves analyzing environmental issues related to corporate, finance and real estate transactions, including working directly with clients to structure transactions in the manner most appropriate to the level of environmental risk encountered. </p> <p class="plaintext">The Firm routinely counsels clients regarding environmental issues arising out of transactions, such as lender liability, innocent landowner defense, successor liability and the treatment of environmental liabilities under bankruptcy laws. Our attorneys are experienced in arranging for environmental insurance and resolving indemnification disputes between buyers and sellers. <br /> </p>
